The Seventh Generation Question

How few of the things made today are good for the next seven generations?

Not net zero by 2050. Not recyclable in principle. Good, for the babies of the babies alive right now. That's what the seventh generation is... it's not that far away.

Almost every product fails to take account of this. Grown in a way that depletes soil. Wrapped in something that outlives everyone who touches it. Moved across the world three times before it reaches a shelf. Impossible to repair and hard to dispose of without harm.

We are going to trace ordinary things all the way through (i.e. where the material comes from, how it's made, what it's wrapped in, how it moves, and what happens when someone is finished with it) and publish what we find, including the parts where nobody comes out clean.

This is an inquiry, not a certification. Nothing passes or fails. No company can apply. We are not here to decide who is good enough.

We are here to ask a question almost nobody in a supply chain has been asked, and to sit with whoever is willing to discuss the answers.
